17th International Istanbul Jazz Festival – July 1-20, 2010
Over 50 concerts, more than 300 local and foreign artists in Istanbul again. This year Tünel Feast is added to the events such as Jazz Boat that spreads the jazz into the city. The joy of jazz will be carried into İstanbul streets with the Street Concerts. This year’s programme also includes many distinguished artists. One of these names is the famous jazz vocalist Tony Bennett. The festival also hosts Chick Korea, Grace Jones, Seal, Martha Wainwright singing Edith Piaf, Buika, Lisa Ekdahl, Laura Fygi & Ayhan Sicimoğlu, The stanley Clarke Band, Enrico Rava & Stefano Bollani…

Artists coming from many countries in Europe will perform music, dance and acrobacy shows. 16 European countries are participating. Various events will take pace among which the famous light artist Austrian Waltraut Cooper realizing a floating light installation on the Golden Horn and Simonetta Gorreri from Italy placing a Murano glass in Basilica Cistern to join water and light.

Hussein Chalayan - July 15 - Oct 10, 2010
The first retrospective of Hussein Chalayan in Turkey, one of the most prominent names of the contemporary design. Hussein Chalayan, having been twice named as the “British Designer of the Year”, is known as one of the most progressive designers in today’s fashion world. This exhibition presents the artist’s fashion collections, art and film projects created between the years 1994 and 2009. It explores Chalayan’s creative approach, his sources of inspiration and the ideas on genetics, technological progress, displacement, immigration and cultural identity.
